Eastgate, in its early days produced many ranges of domestic table and kitchen utility items such as breakfast items, condiment sets and storage jars. This was the heyday of the English breakfast where boiled eggs and toast with jam shared the table with a proper pot of tea. Fancy toast racks seemed to be a speciality of the factory and these turn up in many different designs as do the eggcups.
Some moulds were re-used many times with different transfer designs applied. I have taken the liberty of using my own names for the different patterns until such time as anyone can produce the originals. Other pieces, particularly the condiment sets were stylish in design and often slip by unnoticed to the casual collector.
Many of these items are quite common at the moment and the prices are almost give-away at times. Why not acquire a set and use them"
