Eastgate was not started in time for the coronation of the Queen but made up for it with plenty of items celebrating the Silver Jubilee in 1977, and the later engagement and wedding of Charles and Princess Diana. Plates and mugs abound due to their ease of manufacture but there is also several quality pieces about.
Royalty is suffering badly with image problems at the present time, and this is reflected in the current prices of these pieces. Seldom do they fetch more than a few pounds so maybe now is a good time to buy. They can't go down much further, and if royalty comes back into fashion, the collector will not want items that have spent a few years on the car boot sales.
